Best of Sleep: every wake-up light and mattress topper we recommend, by situation
Every pick from our two Sleep shortlists, six wake-up lights from Lumie and Philips and six double-bed toppers from Silentnight and three foam makers, grouped by the problem each solves, with the maker's key figure and the Amazon link for each.

Every model below comes from a Sleep shortlist on this site, where it is compared with its rivals on the makers’ own figures. Here each one appears once, under the situation it suits best, with the figure that decided it and the Amazon link.

Which should I fix first, the alarm or the bed?
The bed, if you wake with aching hips or shoulders or roll into the middle; a topper changes every night. The alarm, if you sleep fine and wake badly in the dark months; a wake-up light changes the first ten minutes of every day from October to March.
Do any of these figures come from Amazon rather than the maker?
The Lumie Sunrise Alarm and the three foam toppers have no readable maker page, so their facts carry the listing as source and are flagged on each product. Everything else is from Lumie, Philips or Silentnight.
